To better comply with COVID-19 guidelines, it has become necessary to reschedule or cancel some of our end-of-the-year events. When these events were originally postponed, it was with the hope that guidelines would have loosened to the point that all events could be held. Unfortunately, that is not the case. With all social activities and events, there is the risk of exposure to COVID-19. That risk of exposure must be balanced against the magnitude of the event and the degree to which social distancing guidelines can be maintained in determining if the event should continue. We would love to have all these events, but feel we would be ignoring our obligation to protect our students, families, and community if all events were to occur. As a result, the following changes have been made:
- Senior Commencement - Rescheduled for June 13, 6:00 p.m. This event will be held on the lawn in front of the main building (between the two streets). In case of rain, the backup date is June 20.
- 6th Grade Promotion - Has been cancelled.
- Junior/Senior Prom - Has been cancelled.
- Summer School - Has been cancelled.
More information about Senior Commencement will be published in the coming days as planning concludes. The Board and administration regret that these changes had to be made, but the safety of our students, staff, and community must remain paramount.
